MORKO LODBOSSA (morko lead handgun)

I am indebted to Dan Petterssen (dan610324) for traveling through half of Sweden with his camera, on his own time and at his own expense, to provide this collection of images from the Statens Historika Museum, Stockholm, Sweden where the Morko handgonne is being curated at present. Mr. Petterssen is the sole owner of these images and his permission is required for the purpose of copy.

A BIG thanks to Charlotte Hedenstierna Jonson, antikvarie, medeltid, Statens Historika Museum, who provided access for imaging and Douglas Dickens for the use of his FotoTime album.

Gary Lorenz (RocklockI) actually peaked my interest in Morko, after he began to cast copies in bronze from his own waxwork. They are now offered for sale. Gary published them on the Forum. I never heard of Morko before that. After attempting to learn the history of Morko, I googled and found nothing but misinformation and nonsense.

Gary mounted his personal replication of Morko on a magnificent cherry stock of his own making. It is in keeping with artistic Norse tradition. Some believe it should be plain wood.

The original owner of the Morko, must have been a person of means to have commissioned a probable one-of-a-kind creation. It is the personal statement of an individual. As such, it is not unimaginable, that an out of the ordinary and fancy stock would have been applied to compliment this exquisite historical piece. If you’ve got it; flaunt it! It’s still that way today.
